For the 2019—2020 school year, anyone who is regularly volunteering at the school (bake sales, reading program, hot lunch, lice checks, etc.) will be required to obtain a current Vulnerable Sector Check (from the RCMP) and an Intervention Record Check (from Alberta Children’s Services). Should you require a letter to obtain these checks, please contact Tobey Morris in the school office at 780-986-5991 or by email at tobey.morris@blackgold.ca. These checks do take some time to process, so we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible if you know you will be volunteering in our school.
The elementary milk program is going strong for those who have purchased milk cards, or who had them left over from last year.
Please note that school fees are due. Check your PowerSchool account for any money outstanding as soon as possible.
If you are able and willing to volunteer, the school council would love to hear from you. Please fill out this WHPS School Council Volunteer Form and drop off at the school office if you are able to help out! Joining the School Council is a great way to help out and meet new people!
West Haven Public School is excited to continue a pilot project put on by Ever Active Schools, in collaboration with the Leduc Recreation Centre (LRC) and Healthy Hearts. This project is a strategy to enhance supportive environments for students to engage in physical activity across the school and community settings. We have received one family pass (2 adults, 3 youth, 2 child) for the LRC. These passes are available to borrow for all of our families through the library. These passes are available to all of our Wolverine families. Please contact Mrs. Ankerstein by email at sheila.ankerstein@blackgold.ca to book the passes.
Operation Education Fundraiser – Operation Education is a co-operative fundraising initiative that partners local schools with Boston Pizza restaurants in your community to earn cash back. Staff, students and families can dine at Leduc Boston Pizza and help their school earn 5% cash back on the pre-tax total of submitted receipts.
We’ve also arranged a partnership with COBS Bread Bakery. If you mention you are from West Haven Public School when purchasing your goodies, the school will get 5% back. It’s a win win!!
We hope you haven’t forgotten about our COOP number. Our number is 34666 and can be used when getting gas, groceries or liquor. Please use our school’s number as often as you can. Every dollar counts!
